Sowelu Animation

Sowelu - means the sun's energy; derived from the Icelandic Rune Stones. Sowelu was on exhibit at Perkins School for the Blind for the last five years where children and guests were given the opportunity to explore the surface of the stone sculpture with their hands. So often in museums, we are not allowed to touch any artwork. The true sensation with this piece of artwork is the smooth surface of the twisting and turning forms.

This animation shows the progress and development throughout a period of two years and two thousand hours of stone carving and sanding.

Contact us if you are interested in commissioning an artist to create a stone, bronze, steel, ceramic, wood, plaster, ice or other kind of sculpture.
